Originally founded in 1994, the LRG's aim is to provide an informal social and professional environment where translators and interpreters in the London area can meet colleagues, share experiences, learn new skills and keep abreast of developments.
The LRG is one of the ITI's most active groups. We arrange a variety of activities throughout the year, both professional and social. See our Past Events for some examples. We also run an e-group on yahoo where we can discuss issues, problem words etc (details on joining).
We maintain a comprehensive list of our members and their translation/interpreting skills which is availabe to potential customers (on request only).
Our social programme includes regular Dining Out events for a meal in town, an annual Pub Crawl in July and our Christmas Party. The Group is managed by a committee which is elected at the December AGM.
Membership of the London Regional Group is open to any translator or interpreter and to corporate organisations involved with translation and interpreting within the M25 area. (We also have a some country and overseas members).
You do not need to be a member of the ITI to join the LRG. However, note that membership of the LRG does NOT male you a member of the ITI. You cannot claim any form of membership of the ITI, and in particular, you cannot claim to be an MITI. For more about MITI see the ITI website.
The annual subscription is currently £10 and runs on a calendar year basis. You can pay by standing order (preferred), by online banking or (least preferred) by cheque.
